Stories & thoughts behind the artwork
In this painting I’ve tried to imagine a typical New Zealand costal scene, where the land, sea and sky converge. The viewer is gazing out at a setting sun, its light captured on the top of the water as it rolls in.
The view is partially restricted by the local flax plant, the Harakeke. It’s sword like leaves give it a captivating presence along the NZ coastline.
