Stories & thoughts behind the artwork
I found the shapes and composition of this image intriguing. The direction that the light comes from, as well as the starkness and simplicity of the whites and greys against the backdrop of a very barren dark landmass emphasizes a sense of bareness and depletion.
The orange hues and organic curves used in the sky were deliberate choices to enhance the angularity of the landscape and provide a complementary colour contrast to the blues captured in the sea.
